Fume extraction equipment: WORKY range

What are the best fume extraction equipment? WORKY explains it, presenting fixed and mobile welding fume extraction systems. These welding equipment are indispensable to protect the health of operators in a multitude of work environments, such as workshops, body shops and industries. In addition, they also play a key role for a leaner and more efficient production with high quality results.

Fume extraction equipment is essential for the extraction of harmful emissions produced by metal welding. They essentially include fixed installations and wheel-mounted filters capable of sucking the substances in a localized way, i.e. at source. In this way, the fumes are removed before they can disperse into the environment and reach the workers' respiratory tract.

Fixed fumes extraction and expulsion systems

Fixed fume extraction systems are designed to offer:

  • Abatement and expulsion of fumes (or re-entry into the environment after careful filtration)
  • High efficiency and suction power, both to a single workstation and to several fixed stations
  • Long working cycles, without stops.

These stationary fume extractors require a permanent installation. They are composed of: a wall mounted fume fans, galvanized pipes that carry the fumes outwards, articulated arms. In some cases, there are also aluminum rails on which to slide the various arms, moving them from one position to another.

WORKY can designs from scratch fixed fume extraction equipment, tailored to your working environment. Otherwise, we can provide the SPARK kits, already complete in all components.

SPARK-10 - The SPARK-10 model has a 22 pounds active carbon cell, for better filtering high volume soldering fumes.

Mobile fume extraction and filtration systems

Mobile fume extraction equipment are perfect in those workplaces where welding operation is less intense and less frequent. The wheels make it easier to move the welding fume extractor from one station to another, depending on the needs of the moment.

These portable fume extractors are composed of:

  • A motor that provides the suction power
  • A set of 4 filters, the last of which is activated carbon for air filtration. The air loaded with fumes is sucked in, filtered, deodorized and only then re-entered into the environment;
  • Articulated extraction arms.

Downdraft table: SAB extracting benches series

WORKY can also supply fume extraction benches, which are part of our SAB series. These downdraft tables are made of tough metal sheet with a horizontal extracting surface, available in 3 different lengths.

The benches are available in four versions:

  • simple;
  • with coupled fan;
  • with vertical walls;
  • with walls and fan in the most complete version.

Why welding fume extraction is necessary

Metals welding operations have a "side effect": the production of harmful emissions, in the form of gases, vapors and fumes. Toxic particulates seriously harm the health of operators, causing damage to the respiratory system and beyond. In the worst cases, inhalation of fumes can lead to cancer.

The only way to prevent workers from inhaling the welding fumes, is to break down these substances at source. To get a correct fume control, you therefore need to catch them as soon as they are released.

This is the reason why welding fume extraction equipment are necessary. Localized aspiration must be as well accompanied by other protective measures, such as ventilation and the use of PPE.

In which environments are fume extraction equipment required

In all environments where metals are welded:

  • Car and motorcycle workshops and body shops
  • Manufacturing companies, carpentry departments, fabrication shops
  • Steel and metallurgical industries in general
  • Assembly lines for various types of products
  • Building and, above all, naval yards
  • Electrical and electronic laboratories
  • Training center and professional institutes
